Making a Difference

At LESSTX, we believe that investing in training is investing in lives. Every course funded, every skill learned, and every responder equipped through the Training Assistance Program has a direct impact on the safety and resilience of our communities.

By removing financial barriers and providing high-quality, mission-focused training, we empower local agencies to respond with confidence, competence, and compassion. Together with our partners, we’re not just checking boxes—we’re making a real difference where it matters most.

🚨 Help Us Launch a Life-Saving Resource for Central Texas 🚨
Flood Response Fundraiser – SAR Boat & Equipment Acquisition

The Law Enforcement Support Service of Texas (LESSTX) is launching an urgent fundraising campaign to acquire a Search and Rescue (SAR) boat and essential flood response equipment to assist local agencies during flooding and disaster events.

This equipment will be based in Milam County and made immediately available to Milam County, surrounding counties, and regional partners during high water rescues, evacuations, and recovery operations. Recent flooding across Central Texas has made it clear—the need is real, and the time to act is now.

Your donation will directly support:
✅ A flood-capable SAR boat and trailer
✅ Personal protective gear (PFDs, helmets, dry suits)
✅ Communications and lighting equipment
✅ Maintenance and rapid deployment readiness

We’re building a shared regional asset— for an agency in need when disaster strikes.

Training Assistance Program

The Training Assistance Program (TAP-Small Agency & TAP-Milam County) is a nonprofit initiative that supports small Texas law enforcement agencies by reducing financial barriers to critical professional training.

Through our partnership with Menger Public Safety Training, this program provides charitable training assistance to eligible agencies, ensuring officers in small and rural departments have access to high-quality, mission-ready instruction.

Our mission is to strengthen public safety by investing in the training and readiness of those who serve.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the TAP – Small Agency, applicants must:

Be a Texas law enforcement agency
Have twelve (12) or fewer total sworn officers
Be in good standing with applicable state and regulatory requirements
Apply for an approved Menger Public Safety Training course

To be eligible for the TAP – Milam County, applicants must:

Be a Milam County law enforcement agency or officer in Milam County
Be in good standing with applicable state and regulatory requirements
Apply for an approved Menger Public Safety Training course

Program Benefits

Approved agencies or officers may receive:

  • Nonprofit training assistance applied toward course tuition

  • Access to professionally delivered, operationally relevant training

  • Support is funded through business partnerships

All assistance is subject to funding availability and program guidelines.

Priority Consideration

As a nonprofit program, TAP prioritizes agencies that:

  • Serve rural, underserved, or resource-limited communities

  • Demonstrate a clear public-safety or operational need

  • Have a limited or no dedicated training budget

How the Program Works

  1. Submit an application for Training Assistance

  2. Identify an eligible Menger Public Safety Training course
